Variation becomes useful when a real situation can be represented by a consistent mathematical relationship.

Identify the quantities, decide the variation type, form the equation, find k and interpret the final answer.

Application 1: Cost

The cost of data varies directly as the number of gigabytes. A 6 GB bundle costs US$9. Find the cost of 14 GB.
